Chematek sent CEO Dr Ivan Papandrea, Director of the Synhydrid Division Riccardo Libori and Business Development Manager Chiara Colletto PhD to the 42nd SCI Process Development Symposium at Churchill College, Cambridge University, in April 2026. The symposium is a key meeting point for process development professionals working on the practical realities of taking chemistry from early discovery to commercial API manufacturing.

The session most relevant to Chematek's portfolio was on scaling reduction chemistry safely and efficiently, from lab-scale discovery through pilot plant to commercial production. That is precisely where Synhydrid® and Piperhydride® offer an advantage over traditional reagents. Replacing pyrophoric materials like LAH and DIBAL-H isn't only a safety improvement: it changes the engineering requirements and capital costs of large-scale reductive synthesis, a point that landed well with the process chemists and engineers in the room working on API scale-up.

The trip also extended Chematek's academic engagement. The 2025 Synhydrid® SDMA paper with University of Nantes researchers and the 2026 sodium borohydride paper both show Chematek contributing to the scientific literature directly, not only supplying commercially. Events like this create the dialogue that keeps that engagement active.

Chematek's team came away from Cambridge with new contacts among process chemists working on exactly the problems Synhydrid® and Piperhydride® are built to solve.
