When we describe our portfolio as “connected through chemistry”, we mean that knowledge travels: between applications, between industries and between the laboratory and the production environment.
Consider reduction chemistry. Our range includes sodium borohydride, Synhydrid® and Piperhydride®, supported by expertise in reduction step optimisation. These reagents help chemists transform functional groups to produce the molecules they need. Choosing the appropriate reagent involves understanding the desired transformation, selectivity, solvent compatibility and process conditions.
That understanding serves pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis, alongside other applications across our fine and speciality chemicals portfolio.
The connection becomes particularly tangible in flavours and fragrances. Chematek’s experience in pharmaceutical chemistry has helped shape our capabilities in synthesis and high-purity aroma intermediates. Reduction reactions provide tools for developing fragrance molecules, while our portfolio extends to sorbyl chemistry and Timberlove® ambroxide. Here, knowledge of molecular transformation meets the requirements of perfumery: character, purity, consistency and lasting sensory performance. The application changes, while the underlying chemical expertise remains closely connected.
In refining, chemistry connects the product to the process. Sulfiding agents such as DMDS and TBPS support catalyst activation, and Chematek combines their supply with on-site sulfiding services, handling expertise and logistics. This brings chemical selection and practical execution together around a specific operational objective: preparing the catalyst for service.
Our refinery additives and raw materials extend that support into plant efficiency and wastewater treatment. Those connections continue as hydrocarbon products move through the supply chain.
Our fiscal markers, specialty markers and solvent dyes support identification, traceability and product integrity across fuels, lubricants and other hydrocarbons. Chemamarker™ MTE, developed in our laboratories, gives petroleum-based products a distinctive chemical fingerprint. Chemistry therefore contributes both to how a product is made and to how its identity can be verified after distribution.
Lubricants provide another direct example. Chematek’s capabilities encompass blending plant construction through our engineering, procurement and construction services, additive supply to refineries and blending plants, and finished product development through Verus. This creates a practical relationship between the ingredients, the manufacturing equipment and the performance expected from the final lubricant. Experience at each stage informs our understanding of the others.
Engineering extends these links into water treatment and industrial infrastructure, bringing process knowledge together with equipment design, procurement, installation and technical support. For customers, the value lies in that wider perspective. A discussion about a reagent can include the reaction it must perform. A discussion about a lubricant can draw on knowledge of formulation and production. A refinery requirement can bring together chemicals, application support and engineering.
Connected through chemistry means bringing those capabilities together around the customer’s process, product and purpose.
